How do you show you care?

While watching a Christian program, I heard this from one of the characters: "I wish you cared more about me, than what I do all the time."

My s-i-l have talked about showing people that we care about them, not as a number or pew  packer, but as a person. This is what will get people to come to church. We have had it happen. A family member had moved back into the area with his wife, and our two families made the point of inviting them to our homes, as well as to church. We weren't pushy, and didn't "over invite" to either place. Guess what? They felt welcome to our church, because they were welcome in our homes. Yes, it was easier to do because they were family, but it did have awkward moments. The wife was very liberal, and very vocal defending her views. However, they kept coming to church, and she was saved, he re-dedicated his life, and now they are active in their own church where they now live.

What if we didn't want to get out of our comfort zone because of the potential awkward moments? (There were some, believe me) Sad to think about, isn't it?

So, how do YOU show you care? I don't think "pointing" fingers is the way. Not to unbelievers, nor even believers. Not saying we shouldn't hold each other accountable, but shouldn't that be done with love and humility as our guide?

Fall

The weather has turned cooler! I love it, I am so ready for sweatshirts, chili, and snuggling under quilts! It is nice to be able to drink my coffee on a chilly morning. I should have already had my front porch cleaned and swept so we can enjoy sitting out there. It's dusty, dirty and cob-webby. I love being outside when it is cool. Especially on a cool, clear night, with a fire, and some friends. Sigh. Need to invite some folks over, or get invited by some friends. ;) Hope you all have a very blessed day! Oh, and somehow, I started following my own blog...lol

TWO. YEARS. O.o

That's how long it has been since I have posted a blog...sigh. Not that I have so much free time on my hands. That may change. Since one of our "local" channels is not on Dish, at least for now, that is. I DO have a lot of catching up to do, however, can't at this very moment. Ttfn!

An Ungnatural Death

Saturday night movie plans: fail. Bored: success. What to do on a boring, same old sit around do nothing weekend? (After initially getting over my failed attempt at making plans with the family, and scheduling a future girls night with one of my besties) Go on a gnat extermination mission. That's right, I sucked gnats. With the vacuum cleaner. :D I lost count, but I must say, they died an ungnatural death...hee hee hee. Had I a strap-on Shop-Vac, I could take out an ad: Have Shop-Vac, will travel. ;) Now back to our regularly scheduled program: Bored. :/

Imagine

Today, there are no telephones, televisions, planes, cars, or power lines. There are no men, women, or children hurrying here and there. It is a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere everywhere. We are growing, preserving, and consuming our own food. We are workers at home, trading our goods and services for those we don't provide ourselves. We sleep the deep, restful sleep of the tired and satisfied. There is no communicating by fax, phone, or e-mail. We seek out those we wish to speak to.We sit, talk, listen to one another. If the distance is great, we go for extended visits, or communicate by couriers. We take time to "smell the flowers," watch our children delight in the flight of the butterfly, rest. When we travel, we travel only by power of foot, beast, steam or solar. Our homes are clean, quiet, restful sanctuaries. Our rooms are big, open. Appliances are built in, stream-lined. Tomorrow, I will wake from this dream, but I can make it so. I have only to sit in the quiet of my room, close my eyes, and imagine.

New Old Profile Picture

I decided it was time for a change of the profile pic. This was me, 23 years ago. Wow! How time flies, especially the older you get! Seems like it wasn't that long ago. That was my Senior Prom, 1988. All to soon my own daughter will be attending her Senior Prom. I hope we make it there...ha ha. She got her driver's license today! Woohoo for her! I am happy for her, and myself as well. It means I won't have to be driving her back and forth for sports, and other stuff. Although I am sure I will get a little more gray in my hair. :(
